Immaculate Reception Myth-Busting: What REALLY Happened
Переглядів 9874 місяці тому
Here's the TRUTH about the Immaculate Reception. We look at the words of people who were there and separate the fact from fiction, including the recent controversy (that wasn't a controversy at the time) of whether the ball hit the ground, along with the original controversies of who touched the ball, was the 1972 double-touch rule violated, was there a clip, did the refs signal touchdown, what...
Lynn Swann Makes Head Over Heels Catch
Переглядів 1,2 тис.6 місяців тому
While reliving an old Steelers/Pats matchup since it's Patriots week, I watched Lynn Swann make this absolutely RIDICULOUS catch, and the contrast between the "been there before" professionalism of the 1970's vs. the "look at me, look at me" mentality of today couldn't be more stark. Swann makes a catch that Diontae Johnson couldn't make in his wildest dreams, and he just gets up, flips the bal...
Rocky Bleier Spearheads a 17-Point 4th Quarter Comeback
Переглядів 37 тис.6 місяців тому
To me, there's only one Steelers/Cardinals game of real significance; it's a BIG one, and we all know what it is. But in 1979 vs. the then-St. Louis Cardinals, Rocky Bleier came off the bench to deliver a FANTASTIC performance after Franco goes down, spearheading a furious 17-point 4th quarter comeback. The game itself was pure ugly... but Rocky's performance was a thing of beauty. Enjoy!

Terry Bradshaw - Every Pass from his Final Game (1983 Steelers at Jets)
Переглядів 14 тис.11 місяців тому
This video highlights each of Bradshaw's final passes as he comes off the bench, despite his injured throwing arm, and delivers a brief but truly exceptional playoff-saving performance in the last start of his Hall of Fame career (also the Jets' final game at Shea Stadium). Late in the 1983 season (week 15), the Steelers find themselves in need of a savior after the 3 straight losses put them i...

We painstakingly synced this recording of the CBS TV broadcast with the iconic WTAE radio call of the late, great Jack Fleming and Myron Cope, making a great matchup between Terry Bradshaw and Archie Manning even better! The Saints play their hearts out in a very entertaining game which probably should've been much higher scoring for both teams. Bradshaw (16 of 23, 200 yds, 2 TDs) and Manning (...
The Greatest Throw of All Time: Terry Bradshaw's 64-Yard Deep Post
Переглядів 112 тис.Рік тому
NFL Films ranks Terry Bradshaw's game-winning 64-yard TD bomb to Lynn Swann in Super Bowl X as the "Greatest Throw of All Time." I couldn't agree more. It had all the elements of the toughest throws: It came on the biggest stage under a relentless pass rush; it was a deep pass (soaring more than 60 yards in the air) placed perfectly over the shoulder of a well-covered receiver. And it made the ...

    I really enjoy watching this football games from a golden era now gone. Today's NFL is a clown show. If that hit that Dirt Winston #53 did on Drew Pearson #88 were to happen now, it would have been a penalty, a suspension, and a fine. Back then it was a solid hit, and no penalty!👏👏. Also, Bradshaw once said about the Steelers vs Cowboys rivalry, and I quote. "I'm tired of being nice about it. But, we whooped their ass everytime I played them"-Terry Bradshaw- So true!😊

    Jack Tatum made two mistakes that cost the Raiders the game. One, not knocking the ball down. Two, assuming the play was over. He went for the machisimo hit instead of the ball (or tackle if Fuqua would have caught it), and after the hit, he was in congratulate-himself mode.

    I remember watching the live telecast of this game. What an ending. I wasn't a fan of either team, but as a kid at the time regardless of who was playing I watched just about any televised college or pro football game, which of course back in the days of only three channels was not nearly as many as now. It's good to hear the familiar voices of Gowdy and DeRogatis.

    just heard Paul say at about 2:05:32, Paul says that ALL face mask penalties should be 15 yards. It sounded good back then, and it is the rule now. But i believe the NFL should go back to the 5 yd and the 15 yd penalty distinction. sometimes a player BARELY touched the face mask and the 15 yds is too harsh a penalty

    • @mcmillenandwife
      @mcmillenandwife 12 днів тому

      I agree 100%. The NFL needs to go back to 5-yard and 15-yard facemask designations.

    Remember he went 15-1 rookie season. 9-7 the season after that. Did the playoffs as a wildcard team on the road and won the Superbowl. He wasn't a QB in his HS and college career.

    • @mcmillenandwife
      @mcmillenandwife 13 днів тому

      Ben did win the Super Bowl as part of a Wildcard team in his second season, but the rest of your info is twisted up. Including the postseason, Ben was 14-1 as a starter his rookie season, and 13-3 his second season (including the Super Bowl). While he didn't play QB until his senior year in high school (due to the coach's son playing QB), he played QB throughout college, starting 3 seasons and setting a couple of NCAA records.

Worst part the Steelers owner missed the play ..he was on the elevator to the field or locker room and he thought they lost the game .. can you show a full video of the ball as Franco catches it they seen a full shot of ground and ball as he grabbed it ..

    Was this fabulous or what? This was the first time I ever heard this Pittsburgh radio team. My oh my! I've not heard all the great broadcasting duo's over the years, but I'd made the case that these 2 guys were in a league of their own. They had me practically hopping out of my seat in excitement. After that "no call" on Tarkenton when he tossed the ball away, I thought Fleming was going to take leave of his duties in the booth and go down to the sidelines and confront the referee himself. What a display of love and loyalty towards one team. Pittsburgh deserved all their titles over those years; especially with such a supporting cast in the booth. True immortals of the game of football, they will surely remain.

    You hear so many young football fans who weren't watching football from "back in the day" talk about those players being slow and not as athletic as compared to players now. It's nice to be able to refer them to videos of old games on You Tube that show they don't know what they're talking about.
